Central New York tailgate recipes: A lot of people choose sides
Football fans are accustomed to choosing sides.

Our recent search for great Central New York recipes for pre- or post-game tailgating generated several ideas for tailgating side dishes, snacks or appetizers.

Some came from our readers, like the Mexican Corn from Brian Gentile of Mattydale, while others were contributed by professionals, such as the Jalapeno Jammers from sous chef Andrew Nowak of the Season's Harvest Restaurant at Turning Stone Resort Casino.

We also got recipes for a flatbread appetizer, a chicken wing dip and some "sweet and sassy" wings -- which could be a side dish or a main course.

To round things out, we found a recipe for a real tailgate classic: Wisconsin-style beer brats. Food is just part of tailgating, of course. Some of the commenters on our post seeking recipes got into a lively discussion of the pros and cons of Syracuse University tailgate scene, which starts Saturday with the season's first home game, at 4 p.m. vs. Wagner.
